Finsbury shoes require regular maintenance if you want to maximise their longevity. Some important rules to apply:
1. The importance of shoe trees: Rightly considered the hanger of the shoe, the shoe tree must be used systematically for all your pairs of shoes. It dries the leather by absorbing moisture from the shoe, minimises unsightly walking creases and retains the shape of the shoe by re-stretching the leather after a day's walking.
2. The virtues of regular shoe polishing: As leather is a living material, it is essential to moisturise it regularly in order to optimise its suppleness but also its waterproofing and longevity. The correct frequency is to wax your shoes every 4 to 5 ports. This is equivalent to waxing your shoes 2 to 3 times a month on average or even every week if you only have two or three pairs. Don't forget to cream your shoes every fortnight to nourish the leather of the shoe.3. Maintenance of the soles: We recommend that you put a rubber pad under your soles. Be careful, however, never put a pad on a new shoe. We recommend that you have worn them for ten days beforehand in order to soften them up.
